Less Paper, More Progress: We've Cut Printing by 39%!

Over the past few years, we've made some great progress in reducing how much paper we use across Jani-King. And it's not just about printing less. It's about changing how we work, moving away from paperwork and making better use of our digital systems.

So, how are we doing?

Back in 2024, we were printing an average of 8,887 black and white pages every month. By 2025, we'd brought that down to around 5,780 pages, a reduction of 35%.

And the progress has continued into 2026!

Across all our offices, our total printing (black and white and colour combined) has dropped by 39% compared with 2025, from an average of 12,153 pages per month to 7,375.

That's nearly 4,800 fewer pages printed every month, or the equivalent of almost 58,000 pages over a full year!

What's helped us get there?

A lot of this progress comes from the changes we've made to our everyday processes. We've moved more of our work online, including:

• Digital risk assessments, JSAs and health and safety processes.
• Online forms, records and approvals.
• Digital staff acknowledgements and document sign-offs through Employment Hero.
• More online training and learning resources.

These changes aren't just saving paper. They're also making information easier to find, keeping records up to date and reducing unnecessary admin.

Have we reached our target? Not quite!

Our 2026 target was to reduce printing to an average of 5,000 pages per month across all offices.

We're currently averaging 7,375, so we're still above where we'd like to be. In fact, January was the only month so far this year when we achieved our target.

The good news is that none of our offices has returned to its 2025 printing levels, so the improvements we've made are sticking.

We'll review our target to make sure it's realistic but still encourages us to improve. One area we'll focus on next is reducing paperwork used for training, where we believe there's still plenty of opportunity.

What can we all do?

Before hitting Print, ask yourself: Do I really need a paper copy, or can I do this digitally?

Small changes across all our offices add up to a big difference.
